Chapter 278 I'm Back
"You are right to reprimand me. It was my negligence and poor management. I will definitely rectify the situation and ensure that such a thing will never happen again!"
Don't worry.
Li Ang nodded and asked, "Then I'll take them back. Are there any further procedures required?"
"No need, no need. I will personally handle the formalities for your and Lady Eve's entourage immediately. I would never dare to trouble you with such matters!"
Manager Sunny quickly made his assurances, his attitude extremely respectful.
Li Ang nodded, said nothing more, and left the room filled with a sense of oppression and chaos, accompanied by three attendants whose eyes were red-rimmed but whose faces finally shone with light.
Only after Li Ang's figure disappeared at the end of the corridor did Manager Sunny straighten up, exhale a long breath, and wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.
Immediately, his face darkened, and his gaze, sharp as a knife, shot towards the few troublemakers still sprawled on the ground groaning, and Clinton, who stood beside him with his head down, not daring to look at him.
He kicked Clinton in the leg, making him stumble, and muttered angrily, "You bastard! I told you to keep an eye on these servants, what have you been doing? Did you sneak off to sleep again?"
Clinton winced in pain but dared not utter a word of complaint, repeatedly begging for forgiveness: "Please forgive me, sir! Please forgive me, sir! It was—it was my carelessness, it will never happen again, I promise!"
"Hmph! Guarantee?" Sunny was furious, pointing at the filth on the ground and several limp followers.
"Look what you've done! You almost messed with the wrong person! I'll let it slide this time because you're a certified wizard, but if I find you slacking off or neglecting your duties during work hours again, I'll immediately report you and send you back!"
Clinton was terrified; retreating would practically ruin his future. He bowed repeatedly, vowing never to do it again.
Still seething with anger, Sonny glared at the troublemakers, his face filled with undisguised disgust: "You bunch of reckless fools, you're really asking for trouble!"
He pointed at the two men who were still convulsing unconsciously, soiling themselves, and yelled at Clinton, "What are you waiting for? Drag them out! Clean this place up! Let them learn a lesson they won't forget next time they cause trouble—"
A cold glint flashed in his eyes. "I wouldn't mind adding a few more names to the 'Attendant Management Office attrition' list!"
The last sentence sent a chill down the spines of all the attendants in the room, who lowered their heads even further.
Sunny, the steward, swept his gaze over the cowering followers and said coldly, "And you all, listen up. Here, you abide by the rules. Anyone who dares to misbehave will be drowned and fed to the fish!"
After saying that, he snorted coldly, turned and left, leaving behind a mess and a group of terrified people.
Clinton's face turned pale and then red. He looked in the direction where Sonny had left, then at the filth on the ground and the few troublemakers who looked ashen-faced. Finally, he vented all his anger and fear on them.
On her way back from the entourage office, Ginny quickened her pace, almost jogging.
She would occasionally turn back to look at Li Ang, her eyes filled with barely suppressed eagerness and joy.
"Mr. Li Ang," Ginny stopped at the fork in the road leading to Eve's Residence and Li Ang's Dormitory, turned around and bowed deeply to Li Ang, her voice trembling slightly with excitement.
"Please allow me to take my leave first—I—I wish to see Lady Eve immediately."
Li Ang nodded understandingly: "Go ahead, Ginny. Oh, and when your mentor wakes up, remember to tell her that I'll be away for a while."
"Okay, Mr. Li Ang!" Ginny gave Li Ang a genuine smile, then almost immediately turned around, lifted her skirt, and ran up the stairs.
He turned his gaze to Nelson and Rodney beside him. Ever since leaving the entourage office, the siblings had been in a state of restrained excitement.
Rodney clutched her brother's clothes tightly, occasionally glancing up at Li Ang, her large, light blue eyes filled with sparkling curiosity and admiration.
Nelson, however, tried to straighten his still somewhat thin back, his lips pressed tightly together, as if countless questions were churning in his chest, but he remained steadfast in his duty as a follower and did not ask any questions.
Li Ang noticed their expressions but didn't offer any explanation. He simply said gently, "Let's go back to the dormitory first."
"Yes, sir," Nelson replied in a low voice, taking his sister's hand and quietly following behind Li Ang.
The approaching sunset cast long shadows of the three. Wizards or apprentices occasionally passed by in the tower's corridors, their gazes toward Li Ang still filled with suspicion. But the brother and sister were completely immersed in the pure joy of their master's safe return, oblivious to those stares.
They simply followed closely behind, occasionally exchanging a knowing glance that only they understood, with barely suppressed smiles on their lips.
As Li Ang walked down the corridor where the dormitory was located, he saw a small group of people gathered in front of his room.
Lottie was standing on tiptoe, looking around anxiously. Celia leaned quietly against the window, her golden eyes half-closed. Harris was pacing back and forth with his arms crossed, his brows furrowed. Eric was talking to the people around him with a helpless expression. They were Alyssa, Miguel, Remus, and Gwen from the Eighth Squad, as well as Helena and Ludick, the remaining members of Leon's own squad.
"I really saw him, it wasn't a hallucination." Eric's voice came faintly, with a bitter smile.
Just then, Elisa was the first to spot Li Ang walking around the corner.
Her eyes widened suddenly, and she quickly covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes almost instantly turning red.
Then, like a chain reaction, everyone turned to look.
The air seemed to freeze for a second.
"Captain—!" Helena was the first to call out, her voice choked with emotion.
She and Rudik rushed over at the same time, but stopped abruptly a few steps in front of Leon, looking him up and down as if to confirm that this was not an illusion.
Lottie's tears rolled down her cheeks, and she wiped her face haphazardly with the back of her hand, but the more she wiped, the more tears streamed down her face.
Celia let out a soft breath, a faint smile appearing on her lips.
Harris stopped pacing and watched as Leon's brow relaxed.
Alyssa, Miguel, and Remus also gathered around. Miguel patted Leon's shoulder hard, Remus grinned, while Alyssa just stared at him with red eyes, as if afraid he would disappear again.
Gwen walked over timidly, nodded to Li Ang, and said briefly, "Welcome back, Captain Li Ang."
Eric was immediately relieved when he saw Leon. He shrugged and smiled broadly: "I just mentioned to them that you were back, and these guys came rushing over here."
