Chapter 154 Planning the Route
He first led two young attendants around the base and training room, and then led them to his dormitory, A101.
Li Ang pushed open the door, and the spacious, bright, and fully furnished living room left the two little ones speechless, too embarrassed to take a step.
"According to the agreement, I need to provide you with accommodation. There are two rooms here, one for each of you," Li Ang said, pointing to the two small bedrooms.
He now understood that this dormitory was originally intended for a level three senior wizard, since only level three wizards would have two attendants.
Nelson and Rodney's faces lit up with unbelievable elation; they were finally going to have their own room!
At this moment, Rodney asked timidly, "Sir—don't we need to clean this place?"
She noticed that Li Ang's previous instructions did not include this more luxurious room.
Li Ang could have easily handed over the cleaning work here to them, but the image of Lottie's tearful face when she thought she was being fired flashed through his mind, and he ultimately gave up on the idea.
"There are people cleaning here." Li paused for a moment, then continued, "Well—you can clean your own rooms. You don't need to be responsible for the common areas or my bedroom."
O
"Yes, sir," the two replied hastily.
Li Ang gave one of the two remaining keys to his brother Nelson.
Then, he counted out six shiny silver coins from his purse and handed three coins to each of the brother and sister.
"This is your food allowance for the next month. If you use it wisely, you can eat meat at least once a day. But if you squander it, I won't give you any extra money."
Li Ang laid out the unpleasant truth upfront.
The brother and sister, holding the money, bowed deeply to Li Ang, saying, "Thank you, sir. We will certainly not let you down."
Looking at the brother and sister, their faces streaked with tears of excitement, Li Ang nodded: "Very good. Now, Nelson, take your sister to the cafeteria for a good meal. After that, go to the commercial district and find out the approximate price and process for renting a small civilian airship. Also, buy a map. Rodney, go and thoroughly clean the base and training room."
The brother and sister straightened their small bodies, their faces beaming with smiles: "We promise to complete the mission, sir!"
Inside the tower, deep within a dark dungeon.
The once invincible "Necromancer" is now nothing but a charred remains, yet it is still bound to the cold stone wall by thick iron chains.
The flames of his soul had been completely extinguished, his eyes staring blankly into the void, his withered chest no longer rising or falling.
Gorman, Selena, and Carlos, the three faction leaders, stood silently before him.
"He's dead," said the Carlos faction leader after examining the body. "It seems we can't get any more information out of him."
After her golden eyes, which seemed to hold the stars, swept over the necromancer, Selena, the faction leader, said, "Thanks to your specially made interrogation potion, our questioning has become much easier, and we've extracted quite a bit of information."
Carlos chuckled and said, "You flatter me. Only by cooperating with Selena's 'Glimpses of Fate' can we determine whether this guy's revelations are distorted or altered truths. After all, the potion can only make him say what he firmly believes."
Selena nodded slightly in agreement. If her fate magic had not confirmed that the necromancer's core memories had not been tampered with, the value and authenticity of this information would have been questionable.
The leader of the Gorman faction snorted coldly, a faint aura of intense heat emanating from his body. He stared at the lifeless shell of the undead and said in an icy tone, "Died so quickly? You're lucky to have gotten away with it, you old ghost."
Before he finished speaking, he raised his hand and waved it, and a burst of pure white flames instantly surged out, completely engulfing the undead's remains.
Under that extreme heat, his charred body, along with the iron chains binding him, silently turned into a pool of molten iron.
Inside the First Special Operations Group's base, Li Ang listened attentively to Nelson's report.
"My lord, I inquired with several reputable merchant guilds. The cost to rent a small civilian airship, including the crew, is twenty silver coins per day. If we only need the empty ship and pilot it ourselves, the cost is eighteen silver coins per day."
Nelson continued his report in a clear and organized manner.
"The rental fee includes the magic crystals consumed by the airship's power core. In addition, according to the rules, renting a ship requires identification from Riley City and a deposit, but after I mentioned that you are a real wizard, the merchant guild said that the identification and deposit could be waived, but they would need to verify the authenticity of your wizard badge."
Leon nodded. "I understand now. Thank you for your hard work." He picked up the map Nelson had brought back and casually asked, "How much did this map cost?"
"Five copper coins, sir," Nelson replied respectfully.
Li Ang then took out five silver coins from his purse and handed them to Nelson: "Well done. Take this money. From now on, I'll use this money to pay for any purchases you make. Let me know when you run out."
Nelson accepted the silver coin with both hands, carefully putting it away. His young face flushed with excitement at being trusted: "Thank you for your trust, sir. I will keep it safe."
Nelson stood to one side, while Leon spread out a map, his finger moving northwest along the city of Riley, eventually landing on the distant dwarven kingdom of Ironforge. He frowned slightly, estimating the distance.
"More than 12,500 kilometers—" Li Ang muttered to himself, a sense of unease rising in his heart.
Even traveling day and night at the speed of a civilian airship, it would take at least ten days to reach the border.
and--
His finger pointed to the Thunder Mountains, which stretched across the road to Ironforge.
The airship couldn't directly cross this area of perpetual thunderstorms; it could only land at the foot of the eastern side of the Thunder Mountains, then transfer to animal-drawn carriages to traverse the mountains by land. And after crossing this mountain road—it was still about three hundred kilometers to the Dwarf Kingdom.
Looking at the winding mountain roads marked with treacherous terrain on the map, Li Ang felt a headache coming on.
The round trip alone would probably take more than a month just for the travel time.
But a month later is the time when the medicinal herbs are to be handed over to the herb garden every quarter.
Li Ang rubbed his temples, having made up his mind. It seemed that he would have to leave one attendant behind to deliver the medicinal herbs on his behalf.
Seeing that it was late, Li Ang temporarily suppressed his chaotic thoughts, returned to his dormitory, did his usual meditation, and then fell into a deep sleep.
The next day, after Li Ang led his squad to complete their routine patrol, he did not announce the disbandment, but instead summoned everyone to the base.
Inside the base, he laid out his preliminary action plan to the team members.
