Chapter 115 Free Flight
The ravens flew south toward London.
Lynch's consciousness resided within the raven's body, and he planned to use the raven to fly over the distance of more than 600 kilometers, from the Scottish Highlands to the Stone Tower Merchant Guild headquarters in Diagon Alley, London.
The reason for flying there instead of using a portal key or Apparition is...
This is because, after upgrading Raven's Eye, with the enhancement of the magic stone, he was finally able to ignore the limitations of distance and freely use his raven avatar to travel in the outside world.
But this enhancement was too strong, directly connecting it to one's own soul.
Previously, the Raven's Eye was merely a window through which he could observe the outside world; now, it has become a newly born limb.
Strange yet incredibly familiar—though rationally I know it's not real, it just feels like that.
Having lived forty or fifty years across two lifetimes, he suddenly has an extra body part, and he needs time to adapt and get used to its existence.
This flight from Hogwarts to London was his chosen process of getting acquainted with the environment.
He passed through the clouds, and the earth receded beneath him.
As it flew, it gradually relinquished its intention to maintain complete control. The raven closed its eyes and surrendered itself entirely to the sky.
The airflow around me was no longer wind, but some kind of tangible liquid, filtering through the gaps in the feathers, bringing a slightly cool sensation. Each feather trembled slightly, capturing the subtle changes in the airflow.
It doesn't need to flap its wings; just a slight change in the angle of its wings will cause the rising airflow to obediently lift it up.
It opened its eyes and looked down.
Through the thin clouds, the view below is like a slowly rotating, colorful carpet—the dark green forest curls up into one piece, and the silvery river, shining brightly in the sunlight, divides the land.
Look ahead again.
A clean, straight horizontal line was drawn across the sky and earth, stretching endlessly to both sides.
The raven unconsciously opened its beak slightly, not to breathe, but more as if it were tasting something.
The air high in the sky was so crisp and clear that it felt almost ethereal. As it flowed over my mouth, it seemed to wash my body from the inside out, making even my bones feel light and airy.
Suddenly, a howling gale enveloped it, but instead of fighting against it, it danced together in the sky.
At that moment, he felt that he was no longer "controlling" a raven, but had become the flight itself.
Time has lost its measure; only the sensation of wingtips gliding through the void remains real.
It seemed as if he could glide like that forever, until he merged into the boundless azure, if he so desired.
But the feeling of everything being eternal is only temporary.
When a jagged, black stripe appeared on the horizon at the edge of his vision, he knew he had arrived in London.
With a powerful flap of its wings, the raven transformed into a black arrow and shot into the city.
The streets of London were much the same as they had been ten years ago, except for a few more modern buildings that matched his memory of them, so Lynch quickly found his way and arrived above Diagon Alley.
He spotted the huge white stone tower at a glance.
It is too unique compared to the surrounding buildings.
Without hesitation, Lin Qi flew towards the stone tower.
Beneath the enormous emblem atop the stone tower, a window opens inward.
Lin Qi flew into the room through the window and transformed into human form when he landed on the floor.
Behind the desk, Reggie looked up from a thick stack of parchment.
He glanced at Lin Qi, then turned to look at the clock on the wall:
"You arrived much earlier than I expected."
His voice was hoarse, with no inflection, as if he were simply stating a fact.
"I gained some new insights along the way, and my flight speed increased considerably," Lin Qi replied.
As he answered, he stood on the floor and kept moving his hands and feet.
Lin Qi held his hands up to his eyes, looking at his palms and the backs of his hands, his hands constantly opening and closing.
Finally, he stretched out his arm towards the window, his gaze encompassing his outstretched fingers and the sky outside.
"Now I finally understand why so many wizards are so eager to learn Animagus magic," Lynch said, looking at Reggie. "The feeling of completely transforming into another being is truly fascinating. Do you use your Animagus form in your daily life?"
"I can't," Reggie said. "Animagus can only turn wizards into ordinary animals, and they can't use wands after transforming."
That would be tantamount to leaving oneself defenseless. I will not transform into Animagus form unless absolutely necessary.
Lynch's voice was full of sincerity: "You should find some time to try it, relax a bit. Turn into a gray wolf, leave everything behind, and run freely across the land. It will be good for improving your magical abilities; it will allow you to—better perceive the flow of magic within your body."
Reggie gave Lynch a deep look: "I will seriously consider your suggestion."
But he clearly had no intention of continuing to discuss the relationship between Animagus and magic with Lynch, and changed the subject, bringing it back to reality: "Now that you've arrived early, take a look at these documents, saving me the trouble of sending them to Hogwarts."
As he spoke, he picked up the thick parchment he had just been reviewing, its edges slightly curled from frequent turning, and gestured to Lin Qi in the air.
"So all that flying was just to squeeze out some time for overtime work?" Lin Qi chuckled, a hint of self-deprecation in his voice as he walked over. "Great, that's the price of efficiency."
He sat down in the high-backed chair opposite Reggie's desk, the leather seat making a slight creaking sound.
He lowered his head and began to peruse the parchment.
The paper contains the Shita Chamber of Commerce's recent financial statements and operational reports, with densely packed numbers and project lists showcasing the bustling activity of this business empire.
After flipping through a few pages, the content changed to a work plan for the next few months.
The first title of the plan made Lynch raise his eyebrows in surprise: "We're going to launch Floo Powder?" He looked up at Reggie behind the table, his tone clearly questioning.
"Yes." Reggie's answer was as concise and clear as ever, as if he were simply confirming a given fact.
Lynch set down the parchment in his hand, leaned forward, and continued to press, "I remember very clearly that the Floo Powder business has been monopolized for centuries by the descendants of the Ignata-Wilsmith family, and the Ministry of Magic has been happy to let it go. How can we get involved?"
Reggie looked at him: "Because of you."
"Me?" A genuine look of confusion flashed across Lin Qi's face, but his mind raced, and an old face appeared in his mind almost instantly.
He almost blurted out, "Nico Lemaître?"
