Chapter 1150: Sensing Something Amiss
Chapter 1150: Sensing Something Amiss
Bai Ze quickly grasped the crux of the problem, leading everyone in the room into contemplation. After a while, Fafnir cautiously probed, "Are we going to abort this operation?""No, the bloodline of a master at the Dragon King level is crucial for us! We cannot give up so easily!" Eager to achieve great bloodline success, Nero was the first to reject this proposal.
"He’s right, to abandon the operation based on such scant information would be disgraceful!" Bai Ze glanced at Fafnir, then instructed, "Investigate! Investigate with the utmost urgency, even if it means exposing our insiders, it doesn’t matter; find out everything about Pei Yan since he arrived in the Dragon Realm and where he is now! Deliver this information to me promptly!"
Under Bai Ze’s strict orders, various pieces of information regarding Pei Yan’s arrival in the Dragon Realm quickly accumulated in front of Bai Ze within a day, thanks to the inside trackers and Dark Race within the Dragon Realm.
"About a month ago, Pei Yan, carrying the descendants left by the Ancestral God in the Cornerstone Dimension, along with the Master of Origin from the Cornerstone Realm, Lin Junzhao, arrived at the Dragon Realm from the Daoist Realm. They were received by Salafam, the current Dragon King’s child. Subsequently, Pei Yan was introduced by Salafam and paid a visit to the Ancestral God during which the conversation details are unknown."
Listening to Fafnir’s report, Bai Ze methodically fiddled with the tea set on the table, and after brewing a cup of tea for Nero, he calmly said, "Continue."
"In the following days, Pei Yan and the descendants of the Ancestral God disappeared, and when Pei Yan reappeared, he showed signs of physical distress, needing a wheelchair for mobility." Fafnir obediently continued his report.
"Oh? Pei Yan? Are you saying that Pei Yan needed a wheelchair?" The tea cup Nero raised to his lips was placed down upon hearing this, and he turned to Fafnir curiously, "Can it be determined whether it’s genuine or a disguise?"
Fafnir hesitated a bit, uncertainly stated, "According to information acquired by our insiders from the maidservants serving him, in the few days after Pei Yan first arrived at the Dragon Realm, his health was so poor that he couldn’t even manage daily living, relying entirely on these maidservants for care; from this point, his subsequent behavior seems genuine."
"Any more news after that?" Bai Ze asked as he poured himself another cup of tea.
"No, until the Ancestral God left the Dragon Realm, Pei Yan and the descendant of the Ancestral God simultaneously disappeared without trace, making it impossible to ascertain their whereabouts." After completing his report, Fafnir suddenly remembered something and added, "Oh, there’s another matter that, apart from the current Saraf, the other two Children of Origin in the Dragon Realm also practically vanished simultaneously."
"Now it’s getting interesting, Nero, what do you think?" Bai Ze sipped his tea, looked at Nero beside him, and smiled inquiringly.
"Hard to say, but Pei Yan’s physical condition seems like a result of excess bloodline absorption leading to inter-bloodline rejection, a situation that I have experienced until my teacher resolved it for me using the devouring of the Power of Origin." Nero put down his teacup, contemplated, and responded.
"Oh, speaking of this matter, I recall that after the Sword Discussion Conference, the Ancestral God urgently organized the All Races Battle which is held only when a new generation in the Dragon Realm matures every few hundred years, requiring extensive preparation, yet this time it was quite rushed. The Ancestral God provided substantial prizes to stimulate participation from various races, I suspect it was to make preparations for opening the Blood Pool of Ten Thousand Beasts." As soon as Fafnir heard mention of the bloodline, he immediately recalled recent events and interjected.
"Why didn’t you mention such critical intelligence earlier?" Upon hearing this, Bai Ze furrowed his brows and admonished.
"It’s unrelated to Pei Yan, so I didn’t bring it up." Being chastised by juniors made Fafnir quite angry but, acknowledging the circumstances against him, he had to suppress his wrath and reply submissively.
Noticing Fafnir’s displeased expression, Bai Ze opted to ignore him and looked instead to Nero, "In this case, your speculation might be correct; Pei Yan is hastily seeking progress and has lost himself? Given his personality, it’s possible, but with two Masters of Origin, he shouldn’t have made such a mistake."
"What do you think now?" Nero inquired.
"I’ve just reported the situation here to our teacher, let’s wait and see! I believe our teacher will soon provide us with a definite response."
"Alright!"
An hour later, Bai Ze, after drinking tea and relaxing with closed eyes on a chair, suddenly opened his eyes, pressed on his forehead for a while, and his tense expression gradually eased and a joyful smile emerged on his face.
"Has our teacher responded?" Seeing his expression, Nero immediately perceived that Bai Ze had received a reply from their teacher and asked hurriedly.
"There’s news! Hehehe, so that’s it!" Bai Ze stood up and excitedly paced the room, murmuring to himself, "Then everything makes sense."
"What did the teacher say? Is the disappearance of the Ancestral God and Lin Junzhao just a trap?" Eager to know, Nero impatiently questioned as Bai Ze lingered without speaking.
"Begin the operation immediately! Seize the opportunity now and spread the word, have our people ready to engage in battle at any time." Bai Ze didn’t answer Nero immediately but instead loudly ordered Fafnir.
"Now? Right away?" Fafnir questioned in confusion at the sudden demand to initiate the plan ahead of schedule.
"Yes, now! Are you questioning the orders of Master Candle Dragon?"
Confronted by Bai Ze’s rare roar, Fafnir glanced at Nero beside him. Upon Nero’s indication to proceed quickly, he responded then exited the room to initiate the pre-prepared action plan.
After Fafnir left the room, Nero approached the somewhat excited Bai Ze and softly asked, "Does our teacher have knowledge on the whereabouts of the Ancestral God and the duo?"
"No!" Bai Ze shook his head and followed with a chuckle, "But our teacher has guessed what happened to Pei Yan!"
"Oh? What?"
"A mutual contract!"
"A mutual contract?" Nero was momentarily dumbfounded upon hearing this, but quickly understood the situation and nodded with a smile, "So that explains it. What benefits did the Ancestral God offer that caused Pei Yan and his descendant to sign a mutual contract? Hehehe! Pei Yan let his pursuit of gain blind him, effectively providing himself with an additional weakness!"
"Whether it’s a weakness or an asset remains unclear, but now is indeed the best time to eliminate Pei Yan!" Bai Ze sat back in his chair and eagerly downed the now cold tea on the table.
"How so? Is this based on the teacher’s information? Has the teacher permitted us to act against Pei Yan?" With a deep-seated animosity towards Pei Yan, Nero, upon hearing Bai Ze’s words, brightened and immediately sat across from Bai Ze, inquiring eagerly.
"No, our teacher hasn’t given explicit instructions; this is all my speculation. If the teacher’s deductions are accurate, based on my analysis, Pei Yan is currently at his weakest."
