Chapter 139 Arodes' Questions and Answers
Havin: "I want the rights to modify bicycles, as well as the rights to invent and sell related derivative products."
"It's not about exclusive ownership, but rather, as a partner, I need you to share this part of the patent with me."
"I also have a laboratory, but since it was only recently established, it urgently needs a project that can generate stable output and bring in steady income, which is very important to me."
Sirien sighed silently to himself... "I should have just spoken myself. There's no negotiation where you reveal your hand right away."
Across from him, Klein turned to look at Repard. Although he wanted to take the opportunity to raise the price, the other party was the actual inventor of the bicycle, and these conditions would only really affect Repard.
As he looked over, Repard also looked at him, his eyes pleading. For an inventor who was not good at socializing, this negotiation was like being in jail.
As the group exchanged silent glances, Jürgen, the lawyer Klein had brought, broke the silence first:
"I think it's a good idea. Similar collaborations are not uncommon, but usually a reasonable patent fee is charged."
Klein looked at Repard and nodded slightly: "I'm fine."
"Well, I'm fine with that too." Repard nodded hesitantly.
Before Harvin could speak, Sirion interjected, "Ten percent of net profit. Anything more than that would make our investment and returns disproportionate."
Although the latter was puzzled, he did not speak.
Before they came, they discussed that they could give up 30% of the profits for this part of the patent, or even more. For a novice inventor who has not yet achieved any notable results, the bicycle project has a different meaning.
But if we can pay less of a price, that would be even better.
"I think it's okay." Repard looked at Klein, testing his attitude.
The latter nodded slightly in agreement. Although he felt he could try to raise the price, he still owed Sirion money and was a little hesitant to raise it at this point.
Jürgen's lawyer then drafted a contract for the group, and after both parties confirmed that it was correct, they readily signed their names.
Inventor Repard secured funding and access, Klein was one step closer to his goal of making money from his investments, and Haven and Sirion reaped patent licenses and an excellent investment. Everyone was very satisfied.
After signing the contract and having lunch together, Sirion left alone.
As for Havin, he chose to stay and visit Repard's lab, which Sirion suspected was an opportunity to dismantle the bicycle they were shown the way for research.
Back home, Sirion took paint mixed with spiritual materials and painted a secret and voyeuristic symbol on the full-length mirror in her bedroom.
A few seconds later, the originally bright mirror suddenly turned deep and dark, with deep ripples spreading across its surface.
"A sublime being, Arodes has answered the call!"
"It's a pleasure to see you on this beautiful sunny day."
"How happy are you?" Sirion asked instinctively, just like he used to ask in a joke.
On the surface of the full-length mirror, the rippling water paused for a moment, as if the "magic mirror" Arodes on the other side of the mirror had briefly fallen into the rock machine.
Soon, amidst the rippling water, lines of silver words appeared:
My joy is like a flower blooming in spring, bright and radiant; like a gentle breeze on a summer morning, caressing my cheeks and bringing endless comfort; like the sparkling waves splashing in the sea under the bright sunshine...
After a brief silence, Cyril spoke without saying a word:
"Where did you copy these poems from?"
"The latest poetry collection published by Intis Buglingo Publishing was released on the same day as your story, and it has already spread from there to Backlund."
The words on the mirror surface paused slightly, then changed to a new line, becoming a cautious inquiry:
"Supreme Being, according to the principle of reciprocity, I also have two questions for you. May we begin now?"
Sirion nodded slightly: "Okay."
On the mirror's surface, after a ripple of water, a series of joyful words emerged:
"Okay, now for the second question."
"Excuse me, did you call to inquire about what happened last night?"
"Yes." Sirion nodded again, paused slightly, and then asked directly, "I want to know Melina Rosen's true identity, what she did last night, and where she went in the end."
On the surface of the mirror, a round face, seemingly drawn in a simple line drawing, appeared, showing a troubled expression.
Below the emoji are lines of Rune words sparkling with starlight:
"These are three questions. If I were one of those lifeless sealed objects, I could simply treat it as a single question and answer it. But I am the wise 'Magic Mirror,' Arodes, so I cannot deny my own subjective judgment."
"So, sublime being, would you be willing to exchange three questions for the answer to this one... Wait, there's one question I can't answer, no, it's two."
Soon, everything on the mirror disappeared, replaced by a smile that was even uglier than cool, followed by a short message:
"The answers to these questions can be obtained in exchange for just one question, because I can only answer a very limited portion of them."
After a brief pause, new words began to appear on the mirror:
"Melina Rosen, the illegitimate daughter of a fallen nobleman in Westhorwashire, was kicked out of her home after her father went bankrupt and her mother could no longer get money from her. She eventually came to Backlund."
"During the time she was kicked out of her home, she came into contact with the mystical world and became a member of the Morse Order, now Sequence 7."
The 'wizard'.
"This summer, her life changed dramatically. I'm sorry, I don't dare to look into the specific reasons, but I can only say it was extremely terrifying."
"In that transformation, she gained power beyond the twenty-two extraordinary pathways, power related to destiny."
"About two weeks ago, she suddenly blinded herself, and then the power related to fate became stronger. Since then, she has been accompanied by a terrifying gaze."
"I'm sorry, I dare not peek any further. My intuition tells me it's extremely dangerous. You might not even have time to save me before I die." It paused, perhaps fearing Cyril's displeasure, and added another line:
"That gaze was strange, it had a kind of ambiguous feeling, both false and real."
Both false and real... Cyril murmured to himself, a thought forming in his mind... Perhaps it was just an illusion.
After a brief silence, he pressed on, "Didn't you see anything about what happened last night?"
On the mirror's surface, illusory ripples gently swayed, and then new silver words emerged one by one:
"No, but I can't say it out loud, because that would ruin the secrecy effect on me and I'd be discovered."
"In this regard, all I can say is that the seven gods of the astral plane seemed to be very busy last night, and none of their believers or followers received a response from them."
"Furthermore, during the blood moon last night, more than one terrifying gaze lingered over Backlund."
...It's pretty much what I guessed, but I don't know if the "higher-dimensional observer" is actively seeking help or just going with the flow.
It should be the latter. For me, it must be something of extremely high value and privacy, and I would never willingly let other Outer Gods know of my existence.
Composing himself, he nodded slightly to the full-length mirror in front of him and said, "I understand. What's your question?"
On the mirror-like surface, the water rippled for quite a while before new words emerged:
"That sublime being, the one you once mentioned whom I wholeheartedly wish to follow—how long until he arrives in Backlund?"
Raising an eyebrow slightly, Cyril suppressed the urge to laugh and calmly replied:
"He's already here. You'll meet him soon, yes, him."
On the mirror, an excited smiling face appeared, followed by a message:
Thank you for your answer. Do you have any further questions?
"That's all." Cyril waved his hand.
As a burst of fireworks, seemingly copied and pasted from somewhere by Arodes, bursts of light appeared, the shimmering ripples on the full-length mirror gradually disappeared, and the deep mirror surface regained its brightness, reflecting the bedroom scene and Cyril standing in front of the mirror.
Looking at herself in the mirror, Xireen shook her head slightly and sighed:
"As expected, when it comes to Sequence 0 and the great beings above the sequence, Arodes can't give many useful answers."
"Perhaps it does know some of the answers, but without the protection of 'secrecy,' it dares not and cannot reveal them fully."
