Chapter 88 The Multifaceted Ruler of All Spirits
Chapter 88 The Multifaceted Ruler of All Spirits
At this moment, in the northern part of the Beast Hunting Garden, Elder Chalasu, who had fainted, slowly opened his cloudy eyes.
"What's going on now...?"
He lay on the ground, struggled to straighten up, and looked around. All the scenery within a kilometer radius—the flower fields and the rather magnificent stone forest—had been completely destroyed, leaving only a wasteland covered with withered flowers and a large area of ruins made up of piled stones.
The rampant psionic fluctuations still lingered around, petals and leaves drifted in the air, and pebbles floated on the ground as if unaffected by gravity.
"Grandpa!" A robust figure ran over from a distance. A tall, burly, brown-skinned young man hurried over and helped him up from the ground.
The young man helped Chalasu, and the old man and the young man left this place of trouble.
"Lin Ying, how's the situation now?" Elder Chalasu asked his grandson after reaching a safe area. "Is everyone still in the camp?"
"That's right, everyone is now gathered at the Friendship Camp. Mr. Carl is very kind to us, giving us canned food, cigarettes, and wine."
Charasu nodded, and Lin Ying looked at the area ravaged by psionic energy, a strange emotion flashing in his eyes.
"Grandpa, I want to become a psychic too!" he volunteered to Charasu. "I want to learn how to harness psychic energy and protect everyone!"
Upon hearing this, Charasu, who was already exhausted, instantly changed his expression!
"What nonsense are you spouting!" He straightened up, looking like a mountain in front of his young grandson. "Do you know how dangerous psionic power is?!"
Lin Ying dared not raise his head under his stern reprimand, but still insisted on his point of view.
"Grandpa, you're eighty years old this year! I don't want to see you shoulder the heavy responsibility of protecting the family alone." Lin Ying suppressed his fear, patted his firm chest, and said, "No matter how dangerous psionic energy is, it's just a weapon. I can use twelve weapons; I'm confident I can control psionic energy!"
Charasu clenched his fists, his turbid eyes blazing with fury at the disobedient junior.
Even so, he patiently explained to his grandson:
"I'll say it again, psionic energy has never been a weapon, and I have never been able to control it. The power of psionic energy comes from an unknown entity."
Even Chalasu himself couldn't help but feel nervous the moment he uttered that name, his hoarse voice carrying a hint of barely perceptible fear.
"The Lord of a Hundred Faces and All Spirits is a deity standing at the very end of psychic power. He can generously give you psychic power, but He can also use it to manipulate your body. Psychic power is not a blessing, but a curse! Those who beg for psychic power from the Lord of a Hundred Faces and All Spirits will one day be consumed by it!"
A thick hand slammed onto Lin Ying's shoulder, and Charasu commanded in an unyielding tone, "Swear to me! Swear that you will never make such a request of me again, nor will you study psionic energy."
"I swear to you, I will never mention this to you again," Lin Ying said, bowing his head.
Charasu nodded, and the elderly man finally breathed a sigh of relief, turning his head to head into the distance.
Lin Ying followed closely behind him, muttering that name thoughtfully.
"The ruler of all beings, in many forms."
……
In the southern part of the Beast Hunting Garden, Simon and his group are fighting with the beasts they are hunting.
On their journey, the three of them stumbled upon a beast's den. In order to fill their stomachs and, incidentally, to fulfill the Iron Law, Simon led Flannery in a fight against the beast.
New monsters appeared before them; according to Flannery, the monsters before them were called the Terrorclaw Hunter and the Hammerhead Hunter.
The Devilclaw Hunter was much smaller than the Gnaw Hunter Simon had seen before. It had six sharp, bony claws that could tear the skin of most of its prey when swung.
The Hammerhead Beast is even larger than the Gnawing Beast, with two rounded, spherical horns on its massive head, resembling a meteor hammer.
The two monsters are in a delicate, mutually beneficial relationship. When Simon first discovered the hunter's den, he witnessed a "heartwarming" scene: the hammerhead hunter was unable to lower its heavy head to open its mouth to eat, so the deinonychus tore the human corpses into pieces and fed them to the hammerhead hunter with its claws.
During the battle, the two monsters cooperated perfectly. The Hammerhead Hunter charged in like a chariot, instantly destroying the enemy's formation, and then the Terrorclaw Hunter ambushed and finished them off.
But they were facing Simon, who had been strengthened by several blessings.
The Iron Emperor's blessing allowed him to see the weaknesses of his prey at a glance.
The fork swept out, instantly shattering the fragile elbow joint of the dinosaur, followed by a slash that split the dinosaur's head in two.
Simon had just dealt with one Deinonychus when another Hammerhead charged at him like a savage beast.
At the critical moment, the nun stepped forward and stood in front of him.
thump—
Dust flew everywhere, and the violent collision made everyone present feel the tremors, as if it were a small earthquake.
The nun is wrestling with the monster! She is not at all inferior in strength. The monster's eyes are wide open. For the first time in its life, the monster, which has been a king by brute force, is feeling powerless. Its hind legs are uncontrollably retreating. The hammerhead beast is being forced to retreat by a human!
"Is Sister Nun that strong?" Frani was stunned.
Without any prosthetic limbs, she can wrestle with monsters using only her physical strength. Is this the nun from the exploration team?
Simon launched a sneak attack from the side with a harpoon, the sharp blade piercing the beast's side. The beast let out a miserable howl, but was still steadily suppressed by the nun.
The harpoon blade pierced several deep wounds in succession, and a large amount of blood, along with internal organs, flowed out of the body, causing the hammerhead beast to collapse with a thud.
With the nun's help, they swept through the entire lair in just a few minutes, killing all the prey inside.
Tonight's dinner is roasted game meat chunks, without salt or any other seasonings.
Canned food and biscuits are extremely scarce right now, so it's best to keep them in case of unforeseen circumstances.
The grilling process was inconsistent. The skin was almost charred, but the meat inside was still dripping blood. Simon forced himself to eat a small piece despite the strong smell of blood. After eating one piece, Florian looked unwell and politely said that she would not attempt a second piece.
Shockingly, the nun chewed the meat chunks as if she had no sense of taste, eating most of them by herself. She licked the grease off her fingers and looked at the raw meat with lingering relish.
No one knows how she has managed to get through all these years.
After dinner, the nun lay in the flower field, her eyes sparkling with contentment.
"What should we do next?" Flannery asked Simon curiously. "Should we wait until Klein and the others have all left the Friendly Camp before we move?"
"I'm afraid it's too late. Karl's rules state that he can only release one companion a day, and we can't wait that long."
Simon answered very readily.
"Next, we need to take the initiative."
