Chapter 1087 1087: A Plan?

"Are you okay?" Kael quickly crouched down to check on Scarlet's condition as she slid beneath his feet after being kicked by the zodiac.

As the sound of battle raged on, the young woman coughed out a mouthful of blood while slowly rising to sit.

Her gaze drifted towards her belly and then she rubbed it for a split second before looking back at Kael who had asked the question.

She nodded firmly while wiping the blood stain off as her mouth and taking the hand offered to her by the mage.

"Wh-Why haven't you joined in yet? You definitely do have the pill Grey handed us, right?"

Kael lifted the young woman to her feet before turning his gaze to the battle.

It was true. He could recover his mana if he just took Grey's special pill but he refrained for a reason even while people died.

Scarlet didn't want to throw blames around hence she didn't begin nagging him because due to him holding back, the Captain had already lost his life.

Instead she chose to ask calmly.

Kael breathed a sigh of exhaustion as he dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out a purple pill with the initials 'SM' on it then looked at the young woman.

"If I take this, then what huh? I will have unlimited mana for five minutes and afterwards, what happens? I will still get beat down. We don't have any viable way of putting that demon down for good. We have just been throwing everything we have against it and yet, it keeps healing and regenerating. So how do we take it down?"

He paused to see Thalos being kicked away as usual but the gargoyle was stubborn and charged right back in again.

"I'm really furious at Amir's death. But charging in recklessly without any known way of taking the demon down will just be tantamount to death. We need a sure way of killing it. And until I can figure it out; I don't care how many people die, I will remain here."

As he finished speaking, he turned his gaze back to see Noir get whacked in the face by an earth mound sending the familiar wolf skidding away.

Scarlet hesitated as she thought for a few seconds before looking away from Kael and the battlefield behind them for a few seconds.

Finally, she exhaled.

"I think I know a way to defeat the demon permanently but I need your help. You need to trust us."

Kael turned to face her with a cocked brow.

"Us?"

Leaning in, the young woman whispered into his ears before using her eyes to direct him. Her eyes darted from the ground to the air for a few seconds while Kael followed her gaze, listening in intently.

"And you think it will work? How sure are you that we aren't being deceived?"

Scarlet hesitated for a second before shaking her head.

"We aren't. Trust me."

Kael looked behind him to see every single person throwing everything they had at the demon.

Then he exhaled and tossed the pill into his mouth and swallowed hard, feeling it rush down into his body and replenishing his mana core.

It didn't take more than a second after swallowing for the effects to kick in as a rush of mana flooded the mage's mana core.

"Five minutes… that's all we have to take the demon down." Kael uttered as shadows rippled beneath his feet and he sunk into it vanishing from sight.

Turning back around to look at the battlefield, she could see everybody panting incredibly hard as it was obvious that they were running on low fumes.

They didn't charge in again as they waited watching as Thalos, Kira and Noir attacking and coordinating their attacks seamlessly.

A swing of his greatsword, Jim leaned backward avoiding the sword only for Kira to swoop in from the air with a direct attack of her blazing hot beak.

The Zodiac spun around avoiding the beak before slamming his fist into Noir's jaws.

The terrain buckled under the weight of his punch as the familiar felt his whole body shudder.

Before it could turn into a rain of fragments, Thalos vaulted forward and landed a precise, powerful double kick that smashed the demon away.

The Zodiac ricocheted across the terrain for a few seconds before he dug his claws into the ground, coming to a sharp halt.

The ground lit up yellow followed by a violent ki blast that seemed to not faze the demon at all.

Swooping from above with her swords blazing with crimson Ki, Alba spun around a few times before swinging the swords downward unleashing a powerful cross slash of Ki that hurtled towards the demon with blazing speed.

Pressing his hands into the ground, Jim dashed ahead just in time as the slash ripped through the ground with massive earth slabs flying into the air.

"Graviole." Viktor uttered as the massive earth slabs suddenly lost their weight and became as light as paper.

Swinging his hand forward, the earth slabs flew towards the demon with break neck speed.

Weightless and also soundless.

By the time Jim could notice the slabs, Viktor had already increased their weight exponentially as the slabs crashed into the Zodiac's face with the weight of a colossal train.

The ground not only exploded outwardly beneath the demon's feet, blood poured from his snout as his whole form was lifted off the ground and hurled away, skipping across the terrain like a rock on water.

The very next second, his claws sliced through the ground as it was about to reverse the momentum and charge forward when Thalos appeared before him with a swing of his massive stony leg.

An opening.

A breathing space.

Inhaling sharply, Scarlet bellowed.

"EVERYBODY! TRUST ME AND TAKE THE DAMN PILLS ALREADY!"

WAM!

Thalos' foot connected with the demon in a massive explosion of dust and debris that billowed into the air while everybody paused on hearing the young woman's shout.
