Chapter 336 - 262: The Trial of Will is More Exhausting

With a faint golden Spiritual Light shimmering in her eyes, Zhou Tongtong shouted breathlessly at the two little cats brawling with each other.

"You two, stop it! No more fighting! Stop right now! Immediately!"

The moment Zhou Tongtong’s angry shout rang out, an invisible ripple emanated from her small body.

The Little Black Cat and the Little White Cat had been about to sink their sharp teeth into each other. But as the invisible ripple from Zhou Tongtong washed over them, their bodies stiffened. They froze, their round little eyes filled with confusion.

The two little cats, who a moment before had been fighting to the death as if they’d never forgive each other, quickly separated. Then, they simultaneously turned their heads to look at the little human girl standing outside the green space.

Seeing that the two little cats were no longer fighting, Zhou Tongtong breathed a sigh of relief. Just then, the faint golden Spiritual Light in her eyes faded away.

Then, a wave of dizziness washed over her. She instantly became unsteady on her feet and, after wobbling for a moment, plopped right down on the ground.

"Ouch..."

The Little Black Cat and Little White Cat looked at Zhou Tongtong sitting on the ground. After a moment’s thought, they were about to approach her when they suddenly spotted an adult human walking over in the distance. They immediately turned and ran away.

"Little one, why are you sitting on the ground? Are you okay?" A young woman in her early twenties, who was just getting home from work, came over to Zhou Tongtong and helped her up.

"I’m okay, Miss. Thank you." As the dizziness in her head faded, Zhou Tongtong thanked the young woman who had helped her up.

"That’s good. Where’s your mom? Why are you out here all by yourself?" the young woman asked, seeing that Zhou Tongtong really did seem to be fine.

"My mom’s at home making dumplings. I came down to take out the trash for her."

"Oh, I see! You should hurry home, then! It’s already getting dark. You shouldn’t be running around the neighborhood by yourself."

"Okay. Goodbye, Miss."

Zhou Tongtong waved to the young woman and then headed for home.

The young woman watched Zhou Tongtong go into the building before turning to walk toward her own.

Stepping into the elevator, Zhou Tongtong pressed the button for her floor. As she watched the doors slowly close, she muttered, "That’s weird. Why did I suddenly get so dizzy just now?"

DING.

A moment later, the elevator doors opened. Zhou Tongtong stepped out and walked toward her apartment, thinking to herself.

’It must be because I didn’t take a good nap this afternoon... Yeah, that has to be it. So what Mom said was true, not napping properly makes you dizzy. I’d better make sure I take a good nap from now on.’

BANG.

The door banged shut. Xia Qing, who was in the kitchen making dumplings, heard the sound and knew her daughter was back from taking out the trash. She immediately called out from the kitchen.

"Tongtong, the dumplings are almost ready! Go wash your hands and come eat!"

"Okay, Mom!" Having just gotten home, Zhou Tongtong heard her mother’s voice and immediately forgot all about her sudden dizzy spell. She then skipped happily toward the bathroom.

In a corner of the neighborhood, under a large, leafy tree, the two little cats—one black, one white—that had been fighting earlier were now staring at each other. Their previous hostility was completely gone.

It wasn’t that the two little cats didn’t want to have another go at each other. It was just that now, whenever the thought of fighting crossed their minds, the little human girl’s voice would echo in their heads.

And then, the urge to fight would be instantly suppressed, leaving them with no desire to brawl at all.

"MEOW..." the Little Black Cat called out to the Little White Cat.

"MEOW..." the other responded.

If anyone could understand the conversation between these two little cats, they would know they were trading threats along the lines of, "I’m not in the mood to thrash you right now. I’ll let you off the hook for today."

After trading their parting shots, the Little Black Cat and the Little White Cat each went their separate ways.

As for whether they would, as their words suggested, fight again another day—that remained to be seen.

「Meanwhile」

Under the hazy moonlight, two figures appeared on the road in the distance.

One was a well-proportioned young man with handsome features, who was quietly muttering something under his breath. On his back, he carried a beautiful, curvaceous girl with exquisite features.

The immense pressure from the person on his back had forced Lin Li to chant the Purifying Heart Spell without a moment’s rest the entire way.

When he saw their hotel appear just ahead, his heart leaped with joy. ’This difficult journey is finally about to end,’ he thought, and his pace quickened slightly.

"Mmm~" Su Yue, still on Lin Li’s back, let out a soft murmur. Her body shifted restlessly a few times, and her hands tightened around his neck, nearly choking him.

"Hey, what are you doing? Loosen your grip! You’re going to strangle me!" Feeling the pressure around his neck, Lin Li slowed his pace and cried out.

"Mmm~!" A groggy Su Yue seemed to hear Lin Li’s cry and grunted softly in response. The slender arms wrapped around his neck loosened their hold.

"Whew..." Feeling the pressure on his neck suddenly decrease, Lin Li let out a long breath. He then hitched Su Yue higher up on his back as she had started to slip. This unconscious movement, however, caused the pressure he felt to increase dramatically.
