Chapter 694 Communication
Chapter 694 Communication
Aerchon and Sylra moved with quick steps through the streets after finishing the business in the alley. They keep their steps to the shadows as much as possible.
They make their steps as quick and deliberate as possible but secrecy was a challenge in this city. Neon lights flickered in every direction — vibrant blues, reds, and purples bleeding into each other and casting shifting reflections on the metallic wet streets.
The Elves had never experienced this kind of overstimulation before. The sheer amount of artificial light made Sylra's head throb and Aerchon could feel an uncomfortable strain behind his eyes.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
Their world had never been like this. This was a place where night never truly came, where darkness was pushed away by endless glowing signs and floating holograms.
They wove through the crowd, heads slightly bowed, avoiding eye contact. The people of this world barely seemed to notice them because they ar too lost in their own business, but Aerchon still felt exposed.
Even with their careful movements, they feel like they stuck out. After all they are the two figures who didn't belong here. He could sense eyes glancing at them, lingering a moment too long before shifting away.
Minutes passed as they walked without a clear direction and moving simply to stay ahead of any potential pursuers. The streets were layered, some pathways rose above others on sleek metal platforms and fast-moving vehicles zipped overhead with glowing that engines humming against the noise of the city.
Then, finally, Sylra let out a breath of relief. She turned slightly toward Aerchon and spoke with voice just loud enough for him to hear.
"I got through to Vael."
Aerchon gave a small nod, but his expression remained tense. "Where are they now?"
"Somewhere. They said they are safe for now," Sylra assured him. "He said they'd meet us but we need to keep moving until then. They are trying to avoid drawing attention too."
Aerchon exhaled slowly, scanning their surroundings once more. He didn't like waiting — especially not in this unfamiliar territory where anything can happen anytime — but for now, they had no choice. Before going to the tower they need to regroup first.
"Let's go. Don't stop for too long."
Without a word, he resumed walking, Sylra close at his side, both of them pushing forward into the glowing, pulsing veins of the city
"He's inside a structure called the Skyreach Tower. It's supposed to be one of the biggest buildings here. We should be able to see it from anywhere in the city."
Vael relayed the information to Saeldir and and Arlyn. After hearing that, Saeldir's expression darkened.
Arlyn who crouching nearby took this as his cue to move. With a nod, he slipped out of the warehouse, careful not to draw attention to himself as he stepped into the cold, neon-lit streets.
The city stretched endlessly in every direction, but when Arlyn raised his gaze, his sharp Elven eyes quickly found what he was looking for.
Far above the tangled mess of streets and structures, piercing the artificial sky like a spear, was a single colossal tower. Its sleek surface reflected the lights of the city and even from this distance it loomed over everything else.
He turned back without hesitation, slipping into the warehouse as silently as he had left.
"I probably saw the building," he said, keeping his voice low. "It's the tallest building in the city. No mistaking it."
Saeldir didn't waste time. "Tell them to go there. If we all move toward the same place, we'll meet eventually."
Vael nodded, reaching out again. "Head for that Skyreach Tower now. We'll move toward it too. We'll find each other on the way."
"Understood," Sylra's voice responded.
Vael opened his eyes. "They're moving."
Saeldir pushed off from the rusted beam he had been leaning against. "Then we move too. Come on."
Without another word, the three Elves slipped out of the warehouse and into the night, their forms vanishing into the endless glow of the city.
