Chapter 680 Metal Birds
Chapter 680 Metal Birds
Aurdis stopped in her mid of her steps, her eyes snapping upward toward the battle raging in the skies above through the window of the corridor.
Her breath caught as she saw ten enormous metal birds emerge from the portals with their metal frames glinting ominously in the sunlight.
Their sleek and strange design, and the pulsating red runes etched into their bodies were unlike anything she had ever saw before. The air itself seemed charged with an the energy that feels as strange as their appearance.
Her heart clenched. This wouldn't just be another battle, this was something far more dangerous. Because they had never encountered enemy like this, and with Laston moving them behind the shadows.
Then her eyes saw Erend who was hovering mid-air fighting against the cloaked figure.
Her stomach turned as she watched the fight escalate rapidly. In mere seconds, the figure forced Erend to reveal his half-Dragon form and revealing his black-and-red scales shimmering like molten fire against the backdrop of the sky.
The power radiating from him was immense, but it was a reminder of just how strong his enemy must be to push him to such lengths already.
Aurdis's fists clenched at her sides, her heart torn between worry for Erend and her duty to her people.
"No," she thought firmly. "Now is not the time to focus on him. I'm sure he can handle himself."
If there was one thing she knew about Erend, it was his undeniable strength. He had faced impossible odds before and emerged victorious.
Her duty, however, was somewhere else. As the princess of the Palace and daughter of the Elven King, she had her own role to play.
Her father had been clear, they needed to resolve this crisis on their own without leaning entirely on Erend or Eccar.
This was a test of their strength, unity, and pride as a people.
Resolve hardened in her chest, and Aurdis turned her focus back to the task at hand.
Without another glance at the battle above, she continued her sprint down the grand corridors of the palace, her long silver hair streaming behind her. Her eyes shone with a fierce determination as she made her way toward her father's throne room.
"Saeldir. Go to the battlements. Observe the fight and confirm whether it's Laston," the king commanded.
Saeldir gave a deep bow. "At once, Your Majesty." Without another word, he left the room, his robes swishing behind him as he strode quickly down the corridor.
King Gulben exhaled sharply, the tension in his posture barely masked.
"Let us wait for Saeldir's report," he said, addressing the council and Aurdis. His voice, though steady, betrayed the storm brewing within him.
Aurdis now choose to remained by her father's side, her hands clasped tightly together.

Saeldir flew swiftly through the air and made his way to one of the highest towers of the palace. The vantage point would give him a clear view of the chaos unfolding above.
As he landed on the tower's stone platform, the scene that greeted him was alarming.

Erend who already in his half-Dragon form was fighting against three of the massive metal birds simultaneously.
The creatures moved fast, their glowing runes pulsating as they unleashed volleys of energy blasts. Erend countered with streams of fire.
Saeldir's teeth clenched, his sharp eyes analyzing the battle. The Archmage couldn't help but feel the weight of the situation. These enemies weren't just strong, the also utterly foreign.
"Damn it," Saeldir muttered under his breath. He wanted to jump into the fray but his orders were clear. He just havee to observ.
"Oh, damn. Metal birds," a voice said behind him, carrying a tone of casual amusement.
Saeldir spun around, his sharp glare softening slightly when he saw Eccar leaning casually against the tower's edge. The Dragonborn's posture was relaxed, but there was a glint in his eye that hinted at readiness.
